ChinaTel, ZTE Sign MOU for Telecom Network Deployment

ChinaTel announced on August 13, 2010 that the company has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with ZTE for strengthening the two companies' strategic tie and enhancing their cooperation on providing telecom solutions for individual customers, enterprises, and governments around the world, according to a press release by ChinaTel. As per the MOU, ZTE is expected to become ChinaTel's major and preferred supplier of customized equipment, software, consumer products, operational services and financing. When deploying high-speed wireless broadband telecom networks in China, Peru, and other regions that the company plans to enter in the future, ChinaTel is expected to use the above-mentioned products and services provided by ZTE under the terms signed. It is reported that the two companies will share the ownership of any intellectual property rights that may develop throughout the cooperation.

ChinaTel is a US-China joint venture, and the company focuses on providing engineering, deployment, and operation services related to wireless broadband telecom networks. ZTE is a telecom equipment supplier headquartered in China.
